From its beginning in Japan Ajinomoto Co., Inc. aims to be a global company in food and amino acid products and is expanding its operations on a global scale.

Ajinomoto will double its production capacity of feed grade Threonine in AJINOMOTO EUROLYSINE in Amiens, France, in addition to the new facility construction in the United States which was released last January.

Total capital investment of EUR55 million (5.2 billion yen) in Europe will increase annual production capacity of feed grade Threonine from 19,000 metric tons to 35,000 metric tons and it will be completed by the end of the year 2002.

Although Europe is the world's largest feed grade Threonine market, this increased production capacity will supply steadily not only the rapidly growing European market but also the Asian market expected to be a big potential demand.

The total capital investment in the US and European facilities will be approximately JPY10 billion yen. Ajinomoto considers that feed grade Threonine is a strong No.1 product as a second major one next to feed grade Lysine in our feed-use amino acid business and is committed to on-going development of the world feed grade Threonine market by close contact to regional customers.
