Being selected to be a member of the SRI (socially responsible investment) index, a collection of highly trusted corporations in terms of ethical, environmental, employment, safety, and other practices, is proof of our company's high social trust and sound financial position.
The Ajinomoto Group has been acclaimed by various SRI assessment groups globally and selected to be part of SRI indices in and outside Japan. We will continue to work on activities that leverage our core strengths, hold ourselves firmly accountable, and do our share in sustainable community development.

Chairman's Prize at the 18th Telework Promotion Awards

The Telework Promotion Awards have been implemented by the Japan Telework Association since 2000 with the goal of promoting teleworking, to enable flexible work styles that are not constrained by place and time by leveraging information and communication technology (ICT). The theme for this year's 18th awards is "aiming for a vibrant society created by work style reforms." After undergoing screening of its telework practices and program promotion, Ajinomoto Co., Inc. was awarded the Chairman's Prize in recognition of the Ajinomoto work style innovation through the ''Anywhere Office" program.

2018 Certified Health and Productivity Management Organization Recognition Program (‘White 500’ large enterprise category)

The Certified Health and Productivity Management Organization Recognition Program honors large enterprises, SMEs and other organizations with exceptional Health and Productivity Management(※) practices based on their contributions to addressing community health-related challenges and implementing the health awareness efforts of Nippon Kenko Kaigi. By increasing the visibility of such organizations, the program seeks to increase public recognition—from employees, job seekers, industry partners, and financial institutions—of their work in promoting employee health and productivity from a strategic management perspective. In 2018, the second year of the program, 541 organizations were selected in the large enterprise category (White 500); Ajinomoto Co., Inc. was chosen for the second consecutive year.

2018 Health & Productivity Stock Selection

Ajinomoto Co., Inc.

The Health & Productivity Stock Selection is a list of Tokyo Stock Exchange-listed enterprises chosen for their work in promoting employee health and productivity from a strategic management perspective. Chosen on a one-company-per-industry basis, it aims to promote corporations working on “Health and Productivity Management” and to introduce the selected enterprises as an attractive investment option for investors who prioritize the improvement of corporate value over the long run. This time, the fourth year since the selection began in 2015, 26 companies from 26 industries were chosen; Ajinomoto Co., Inc. was chosen to represent the food industry for the second consecutive year.

2017 “New Tohoku” Reconstruction and Creation Award

The “New Tohoku” Reconstruction and Creation Award honors individuals and groups who have shown outstanding achievement in implementing, supporting, or coordinating solutions to challenges faced by communities impacted by the 2011 disaster, including population decline, aging, and deindustrialization. Begun in 2016, the program aims to broadcast the activities of award recipients while promoting expansion of their activities in and beyond the Tohoku region. This fiscal year, the Red Apron Project,(※) a reconstruction support initiative by the Ajinomoto Group, was selected for an award in the organization category.    
※Operation of the Red Apron Project was transferred from the Ajinomoto Group to the Ajinomoto Foundation in April 2017.

21st Environmental Communication Awards (Special Jury Prize)

The Environmental Communication Awards are given to environmental reports and environmental activity reports that have contributed significantly to the advancement of environmental management, communication, and information disclosure in the business sector. This year, the Ajinomoto Group Integrated Report 2017 and Sustainability Data Book 2017 were chosen for a special jury prize (award from the jury committee chair) from among 209 submissions in the environmental report category. There were 339 submissions in total, including 130 in the environmental activity report category.

Green Purchasing Award 2017

The Green Purchasing Network (GPN) promotes the preferential purchase of environmentally responsible products and services and confers the Green Purchasing Award to initiatives that contribute to the expansion and development of green markets or enlarge organizations and people working on green purchasing. The efforts by Ajinomoto Co., Inc. to acquire the Greeen Power Certificate for biomass power generation utilizing bagasse from sugar cane, one of the major raw materials of umami seasoning AJI-NO-MOTO® and to make all electricity consumed at its headquarters and domestic sales offices green won the grand prize as a prime example of actively carrying out and deploying green purchasing of electricity.


RobecoSAM Sustainability Award 2017「Bronze Class(Food Products)」

The RobecoSAM Sustainability Award is an annual corporate sustainability rating conducted by RobecoSAM, an assessment body based in Switzerland. It evaluates corporate actions and information disclosure level on sustainability from the economic, environmental, and social perspective, and rates the top companies from each sector into three categories: Gold Class, Silver Class, and Bronze Class. In 2017, 2,473 companies in 60 industries were evaluated. Ajinomoto Co., Inc. was awarded the Bronze Class among 79 companies in the Food Products sector.
